Vanessa Paddon – Bio

Dr Paddon is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. She trained in medicine at the University of Sydney and graduated in 2004 with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medical Science degrees. Following two years of clinical work, Dr Paddon pursued full-time research at the University of Sydney. She received the University of Sydney Postgraduate Award for her research into molecular events involved in the progression of non-melanoma skin cancer and was awarded a Master of Medicine postgraduate degree for this work in 2009. For this research, she also received the Young Investigator Award from the Australasian Society of Dermatological Research. During this time, Dr Paddon also completed a Master of Medicine postgraduate degree in Infection and Immunity at the University of Sydney.
Dr Paddon then undertook specialist training in dermatology, working at a number of tertiary teaching hospitals in NSW including: Royal Prince Alfred, John Hunter, Prince of Wales, Sydney Children’s, Royal North Shore and St Vincent’s Hospitals. She has also practised in more peripheral locations including: Dubbo, Orange, Bourke, Brewarrina, Coffs Harbour and Wyong.
Dr Paddon is a published author in peer-reviewed international journals including the British Journal of Dermatology, the Australasian Journal of Dermatology, the Journal of Investigative Dermatology and the International Journal of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, amongst others. She has presented at national dermatological and scientific conferences.
Dr Paddon is a visiting medical officer at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney where she is involved in providing specialist dermatology clinics, care of inpatients and the teaching of medical students, junior doctors and dermatologists-in-training. She is also a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and lectures to medical students.
Dr Paddon is skilled in general, procedural and cosmetic dermatology with a special interest in the management of skin cancer (surgical and non-surgical) and acne.
