Injections for Underarm Sweating
This treatment uses the same very popular product that is used to relax muscles on the face and thus treat wrinkles. It is injected into the armpits after they have been anaesthetized with a topical cream for 60 minutes, making it a very comfortable procedure. Most patients experience near complete resolution of their excess sweating problem for 8 to 12 months after the treatment, making it a remarkable break-though for those distressed by this condition. This treatment is now subsidised under the PBS for patients with medically excessive underarm sweating (axillary hyperhidrosis).
Many patients with a normal degree of underarm sweating elect to have this procedure because they enjoy the extra confidence and convenience that it gives. The reduction in underarm sweating exceeds that of any spray or roll-on antiperspirant and, in fact, usually removes the need to use these products.
