PLLA is an injectable product that contains microparticles of poly-L-lactic acid. PLLA has been widely used for more than 40 years in medical products such as absorbable sutures, and is typically non-toxic. It is biocompatible and biodegradable.

When injected into the skin it results in thickening of the deep skin layers and an increase in collagen. It is injected as a thin liquid over a broad area and can achieve a filling effect over a larger area than most other filler products. It is also longer lasting than most products, with an 18 to 24 month duration.
